More alternatives to hating and loving

There are individuals believing that since I don’t hate a group I must love it.  As if the only possibilities were hating and loving.  I view that as an expression of black and white thinking.  There are so many more emotions which one may have for a group.  Or no particular emotions at all.  Also this is an alternative which has to be considered.  Otherwise one ascribes to people emotions they don’t have.

Not only do I reflect a great deal about things.  I am trying to be consistent in my attitude to others.  It would be against my principles to hate an entire group.  Doing that one denies there being individual differences within the group.  In reality individuality is something which is inevitable.  For this reason all group members can’t be equally evil.  If they now can even be considered that.

In addition groups are ascribed motives they don’t have.  Some just take it for granted people have those motives.  That without any connection to the group members’ situation.  Moreover, different members can have different positions in society.  If it is no legally enforced one can’t presuppose the entire group to have the same.  Many faulty ideas on motive are based on such myths.  Every single member of a group is wrongfully supposed to be rich.  Or every single member is falsely believed to live on welfare.  Then claims of motive are based on everyone being this.  With or without connection to what such would earn from.

There are many groups I have taken in defence.  No-one of them mean I would love the group.  I just find the group more or less acceptable.  This based on ethics and not similarity or dissimilarity.  Of cause I have different views of the different groups.  However, I am actively trying to avoid treating people based on stereotypes.  If there is at all a need to interact with them.
