The central control myth

Conspiracy talkers have a tendency to believe things to be centrally controlled.  People doing the same thing are supposed to be part of the same organisation.  This does not at all have to be the case.  Oftentimes there are loads of different groups doing the same thing.  On the other hand there are comprehensive terms for many such groups.  Such comprehensive terms can be misunderstood as a single organisation.  Especially by certain individuals which don’t seem to consider anything else.

Lose connections between different groups can be over-interpreted too.  That there have been connections in the past is misinterpreted as still existing control.  One example of this is:

1. Newspaper X is owned by publisher Y.

2. Publisher Y was founded by a member of group Z.

3. Therefore group Z controls the content of newspaper X.

In reality the descendants of the publisher’s founder have stopped identifying as the group.  The publisher neither longer have anything to do with the newspaper’s content.  It nowadays just sees to that everything gets paid.

Payment is also something tending to be over-interpreted.  Other people are supposed to be willing to do anything just because they get paid.  Fact is people vary in their willingness to be bribed.  Not only is it something varying individually.  There are correlations with culture and which occupational groups one belongs to.  However, these are oftentimes entirely different than what some imagine.  Others refusing to accept one’s ideas may have entirely different causes.

Then there is when all members of a group are supposed to obey orders.  As if people do as they are told just because they are told.  To the opposite it is commonplace that people don’t.  Death threats neither works as efficiently as some believe.  One example is British foot soldiers during the 18th and 19th centuries.  These were threatened by death penalty if they deserted.  Yet it happened on a regular basis they deserted for some selfish reason.  Like the opportunity to steal alcohol.  That they were requited on the bottom of society matters for the frequency.

Finally I want to point out that the control process itself is noticeable.  There are people keeping track of where the rich and powerful are.  That such people disappear are very rare nowadays.  As such there would be information on where and when they have meetings.  Orders given by such would be documented too.  In the same way money others are claimed be paid would be possible to trace.  Oneself being unaware of something does not mean everyone would be.
